Vignettes of (un)humanity
Where: Knoxville, Tennessee
When: December 7th, 2017
Who: GOL, Knoxville Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking and International and local artists.
What: A fundraiser to spread awareness on human oppression with its multiple facets locally as well as on a global scale. We auctioned off two wonderful paintings from an international artist who worked on her paintings and shipped them to Knoxville all the way from Kuwait.
Accomplishment: We managed to attract not only a huge crowd to the cause but we also had the pleasure of hosting distinguished speakers like Councilwoman Seema Singh-Perez of the 3rd District who gave a raw and progressive account on what oppression meant to her and what drove her to take the first steps towards change in her community. Kate Trudell, the Executive Director of the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking followed with astonishing facts accounting for the issue of Human Trafficking in Knoxville and how her team has been the frontiers for combating
this plague.
